Reindeer Travel

Click photo to make big so you can read the writing on the trailer.

So much for the theory that reindeer fly. The photo above is proof how they really travel. I took this yesterday on our way back home to (Westcliffe). The roads and traffic were horrible. We thought people stayed home on Christmas day, how wrong we were. The normal 3 hour drive, took us 4 hours, which actually wasn't bad considering the conditions. We ran out of snow in the Springs, but were back in it, just outside the Springs, on route 115 heading to Penrose.

Got back around 3:30pm and it was 41º inside! Yikes, someone forgot to turn the power back on after, running the generator to get batteries fully charged before we left. That could have been disastrous. Luckily we must have had some warm days to keep things warmed up and the pipes from freezing! We had taken most of the food with us out of the fridge. The root cellar that SRC built this summer has dip down to 35º a couple of times, but so far so good. We have the biggest refrigerator in the county, let hope it doesn't turn into the biggest freezer.

I was exhausted yesterday when we got back, and when it finally warmed up in here, which took several hours, I was out like a light on the couch. Finally got up and went to bed at 11:30. Woke with my usual back ache and stiffness. Time to get it checked out. My new rheumatologist, says it's not my RA??? Enough whining for now.

  7. Glad I'm not in that weather, but confess that anytime I see rain or snow these days, I celebrate. Glad you're home safe.

PS: I chuckled at the picture.

  9. Hi! As I hate the heat and the humidity of our current summer, I'd do anything to be in a place like yours at the moment. As long as I don't run across any yellow snow that is.

Love the images but sorry to hear about your bad trip. As for the other Peter, I've not heard of him, sorry. Wishing you all the best for 2008!

    Regards
    Peter

  10. Back ache when you get out of bed - sounds familiar. If they tell you what it is and what is recommended, let me know - sounds like some of my problems here. Mine is back ache plus knees that are stiff as all get out and an ankle that swells frequently - along with a few other minor complaints to of course. Ah, the great life of aging!
